FuzeEcoteer is an accredited social enterprise dedicated to conservation through community engagement, sustainable tourism, and hands-on education. As a Malaysian-registered tour operator, it offers conservation and research experiences, connecting people with nature through volunteering, expeditions, and educational programs. FuzeEcoteer runs projects focused on sea turtle conservation, marine protection, rainforest research, and wildlife rescue while partnering with organizations that share its mission. By fostering collaboration and adventure, FuzeEcoteer empowers individuals to make a positive impact on the environment. Their mission involves putting people back in touch with nature to foster a sense of responsibility and adventure.

2024 Project – Wastewater Management Study and Sustainable Tourism on Perhentian Island

FuzeEcoteer had 2 main objectives for the project, namely island waste disposal and sustainable tourism. The first objective supported recycling efforts on the island and collected 1,300 Kgs of waste on land and underwater. The team also collected water quality samples around the island to build a proposal for helping resorts reduce their sewerage issues. In addition, they played a key role in establishing a new recycling and monitoring system. Workshops were held at the end of the year to discuss their findings and solutions.

For their second objective, the team worked to strengthen the capacity of local tourism players through increased diving skills, health and safety training, improved facilities and educational outreach programmes. These efforts provide a stronger foundation for sustainable tourism practices and empower the local community. To strengthen local participation in biodiversity conservation, the team tracked foraging turtles and produced an ethical sea turtle-watching guide. Data was collected to map sea turtle routes to share with boatmen and local stakeholders to avoid boat strikes and human wildlife conflict. The team also carried out Sea Turtle Awareness workshops and school programmes at 16 schools, providing valuable education to the next generation of ocean stewards!
