Organized by co-chair Tengah Island Festival, the Festival Pulau Besar hopes to revive and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of Pulau Besar, promote sustainable tourism, and educate visitors on integrated island waste management through the Rumah Eko initiative. The festival runs for a month with three main themes: Heritage, Knowledge, and Sustainability. Its objectives include promoting Pulau Besar as a sustainable tourism destination in line with INSTO objectives, elevating unique elements of local culture and tradition, and introducing the Rumah Eko as a model of sustainable practice for islands in Malaysia as well as a learning center offering an immersive program. With workshops centered around conservation, traditional music and dance, cooking classes and talks, the festival has something to offer everyone!
